Enzo Maresca has signed a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge but we already know the pressure will be on him from the get go with Chelsea’s bizarre recruitment policy and running of the club by BlueCo and Todd Boehly. The Blues do have some real quality all over the pitch but the lack of a hierarchy leaves it very muddled and confused. Manchester City have started seasons in a better state with a lot of players coming back from UEFA EURO 2024 quite late and some players nursing injuries but they are still expected to cruise to an opening day victory in the capital this weekend.
