These were the two favourites to progress in the top two of Group F and they both got off to winning starts but in unconvincing fashion. Turkey eventually defeated an enterprising Georgian side by three goals to one with two wonder goals from Mert Muldur and Arda Guler, as well as a late strike from Kerem Akturkoglu with Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili stranded up the field. Portugal were laboured as Roberto Martinez choose the major tournament to experiment with his system and personnel. The Iberians had come from behind and score a stoppage-time winner to defeat Czechia. Both sides showed fallibility but also a lot of endeavour and ideas in attack so both teams scoring may well be a good bet for this one.
