In qualifying, Poland lost to Moldova and only just eventually finished above the minnows in third but still behind the automatic qualifying spots occupied by Albania and Czechia. Fernando Santos was dispensed with and replaced by Michal Probierz, who did lead them through the playoffs but this is a weak Polish side missing their star man Robert Lewandowski due to injury for their opener. The Netherlands have injuries of their own, particularly in midfield, with Teun Koopmeiners, Frenkie de Jong and Marten de Roon all missing the tournament but they have, arguably, the best set of defenders on paper and some quality in attack and they should have more than enough to see off their opposition and keep a clean sheet in the opening fixture, too.
