This one has the potential to be an absolute thriller between two of the heavyweights of European football, Spain and Italy. La Roja, under the management of Luis de la Fuente, defeated Croatia by three goals to nil with pacy and incisive, more direct football in the final third helping them to become a bit more entertaining but there were enough defensive lapses to give the Italians hope of causing them problems. 2022/23 Serie A winning coach Luciano Spalletti is in charge of the Azzurri and there were signs of his progressive and proactive style of football as they came from behind against Albania in their opening game. Both teams scoring seems a good bet for two ‘footballing’ sides that would look at their defences as major areas of weakness.
